Adapter Converter

Technology has played an important role in making the world seem like a much smaller place. However, "globalization," there seems to be a lack of "normalization" when it comes to electricity. The standards on electricity used to power the technology has not changed much since national standards were originally created in each country. If you've traveled abroad, it becomes quite clear that the plugs for your gadgets and appliances do not fit into outlets oversees.

The differences are in fact more of form. The United States and most of the western hemisphere use electrical systems that operate at 110-120 volts. Most other countries use 220-240 volts as a standard. To add to this, the 110 volt systems have a cycle of 60 Hz, whereas most systems operate at 220 volts at 50Hz. This difference in cycles per second is not normally a problem, but it can make certain elements such as electric clocks run faster or slower depending on the cycle.

Let's start first with what you might need to take with you when you travel abroad:

  • Adapters
  • Converters
  • Transformers

Many people exchange terminology, thinking they are all one and the same thing, but the opposite is true. The adapters are nothing more than a connector that changes the shape of the plug match making. It does not change no tension in any way. Use an adapter if the form is the only difference between your equipment and the electrical system you use. Unsure? Check your equipment! Some items are manufactured with the ability to work with either 110v or 220v. A common example are the power supplies for laptops. Most are smart and will work with either 110v or 220v and you can just use an adapter to adapt the plug to the outlet. It is always However wise to check against the manufacturer if you have any doubts.

If your device is not dual voltage, then you will need a converter or a transformer. Converters take the 220V has received from a source and quickly cut and off to approximately 110V. The converters are not good for everything that will be connected to more than a few minutes and certainly not to be used electronic equipment. The basic rule is, if it has a microchip in it, do not use a converter. Electronic items must be used with processors. Remember that most foods laptop have built and you only need the adapter to the shape of the sheet. Transformers effectively reduce tension electricity through it. Converters Only approximately 110 V and then right and limiting the amount of electricity. It This is a great difference between the two. Also, if you go up from 110 to 220V, you must use a transformer.

The last thing you want on your trip is a curling iron burns, a clock that runs too fast, or an electronic device expensive is no longer usable. Understanding the terminology and look closely at the electrical items that you will take during your travel make sure you have exactly what you need.
